The Skoda Fabia 1.2
This week the car we’ve selected for our Cars For Under £1000 blog is the Skoda Fabia. We’ve got an absolute bargain at Loot this week with an 05 plate, red, 1.2 manual for sale for just £700. There’s also plenty of other cars under £1000 on our site and don’t forget you can use loot.com to sell your old, unwanted motor!
This example is the first generation of the Skoda Fabia. It was the winner of the year 2000 WhatCar of the year award. It was also the first to use Volkswagen Group’s A04 Platform, which it shares with the Volkswagen Polo Mk4 and the SEAT Ibiza. The Fabia is available as a hatchback or as an estate.
This car benefits from a spacious and practical interior whilst not sacrificing the outer appeal of being a “neat hatchback”. This means it works as a family car and is ideal for city driving as well as being easy to park.
Some reviews of the Fabia have described driving it as “dull”. But this isn’t necessarily a bad thing as “dull” quite often goes hand in hand with “safe”. In addition to the driving experience, the Fabia has has a range of exceptional safety features including six airbags, stability control and a tyre pressure-monitoring system.
The 1.2 litre engine is relatively economical for the age of the car. However, in some cases it can be a bit noisy at higher speeds. The Fabia also suffers from wind noise at these speeds, making motorway driving a bit loud.
Overall the Skoda Fabia makes a fantastic car for under £1000. It isn’t expensive to run or maintain and it is practical for city driving and safe for all the family.
