MIT Economist predicts Rugby World Cup results

It’s 33 days till the start of the Rugby World Cup in England and sports fans are starting to get very excited.

To celebrate the countdown to the World Cup a new system has been developed to try predict the results.

Rugbyvision.com has been designed by the architect of the system, Dr. Niven Winchester, in which the results of the tournament have been played out using a series of complex algorithms.

The model provides an estimate “average” margin between two teams, the percentage of victory is predicted by a team’s ranking as well as the likelihood of the margin being right.

Stuart Lancaster and his English team are one of the favourites to win the William Webb Ellis trophy on home soil but rivals Ireland and New Zealand are some of the teams that stand in their way.

But how will it pan out?

Rugby Vision reckon that England have a 50.5% chance of reaching the final but can they win it?
